UConn's Jalen Adams out 4-6 weeks with knee injury

Jalen Adams may have played his last game in a UConn uniform.

The school announced on Friday that Adams has been diagnosed with a Grade 2+ MCL sprain in his left knee, according to the results of an MRI he underwent on Thursday afternoon. A Grade 2+ sprain is more severe than just a Grade 2 sprain. He will be out of action for 4-6 weeks.

UConna€™s regular season ends four weeks from Sunday at ECU. The American Athletic Conference tournament begins the following week in Memphis, so if Adamsa€™s rehab goes well, ita€™s possible he could return for that. However, the senior guard may not want to risk further injury, with hopes of a professional career after graduation.

UConna€™s only avenue to the NCAA tournament is likely through an automatic bid by winning the AAC tournament. The Huskies could get an NIT bid, though that will be made a lot tougher having to go at least the next month without their best player and leading scorer.

Adams suffered the injury in UConna€™s loss at Temple Wednesday night, when Owl forward J.P. Moorman rolled up on Adamsa€™ left leg while diving for a loose ball just under six minutes into the game. Adamsa€™s leg twisted in an awkward way, and he lay on the floor in obvious pain before being carried off to the locker room.
