Avery Johnson won't have to wait until the November signing period to land his next major recruit.

Five-star point guardA Kira Lewis, who was set to be a senior this season atA Hazel GreenA High, committed Alabama this afternoon and has reclassified for the Class of 2018. Though he did not say if he would begin classes this semester or in January, 247Sports and HoopSeen have reported that he will enroll for the fall semester, which begins Aug. 22. That would allow Lewis to step in immediately and help fill the void left at point guard following the departure of Collin Sexton.

The 6-foot-3 Lewis made the decision while in Los Angeles for the Nike Skills Academy.

Lewis is rated the nation's No. 5 point guard and the No. 26 player overall by 247Sports.

Lewis made an official visit to Alabama this past weekend. The Crimson Tide were among his top-12 choices, along with Auburn, Baylor, Georgia, Houston, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Providence and TCU.
