Kentucky freshman PJ Washington is nearing a decision about whether to stay in the NBA draft.

"If I get a second-round guarantee, Ia€™m definitely going back to school," Washington said Thursday at the NBA combine.A "Right now if ita€™s first round, I believe I should take it, if ita€™s second round I believe I should come back."

Washington's father, Paul Washington,A recently told Courier JournalA a first-round guarantee would ensure his son remains in the draft but an early second-round projection might be enough for PJ Washington to decide to remain in the draft.

While Washington acknowledged it may be difficult to get NBA teams to give him a guarantee when he will be selected, he was adamant about the scenario that would see him return to Lexington for his sophomore season.

"If they were guaranteeing me second round, I would definitely come back and I feel like we would have a great year next year," Washington said.A "A lot of guys coming in, got a lot of talent coming in next year. Just to be a part of that would be special as well.a€

ESPN ranks Washington as the No. 51 prospect in the current draft class but projected him as a first-round pick (No. 18 overall) in its most recent 2019 mock draft, suggesting he might be able to significantly improve his stock if he returns to Kentucky for his sophomore season.A

At the combine, Washington was measured at 6-foot-8-inches with shoes and 6-foot-6.5-inches without shoes. His 7-foot-2.5-inch wingspan ranked 12th among players at the combine. Washington's hand width was measured at 10.25 inches, tied for forth largest at the combine.
