Oregon State forward Tres Tinkle and center Cheikh N'diaye have been granted medical hardship waivers after each missed a majority of the 2016-17 season due to injury.

Tinkle will return as a redshirt sophomore, giving him three remaining years of collegiate eligibility. The 6-foot-8 forward and son of coach Wayne Tinkle averaged 20.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.2 steals in six games before breaking his right, non-shooting wrist.

N'diaye started eight games as a senior and averaged 3.6 points and 2.2 rebounds before he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery. The 7-footer from Senegal could enroll in a graduate program, transfer for his final year of eligibility or elect to play professionally overseas.

"It's neat that they both got their year back," Wayne Tinkle said. "Obviously we're excited. Cheikh, his situation is still in his court, what he wants to do. With Tres, it was such a tough loss for us. I guess the one saving grace is that he gets that year back."
